Campania Wines

Campania Wines15 Years in the UK • 2011–2026

Founded on a passion for Italy's most neglected great wine region.

Luigi & Jo Di Caprio import native-grape boutique wines and artisan delicacies directly from independent grower families across the sun-drenched volcanic slopes of Campania.

The Founding

From a Campanian cellar to a Surrey doorstep.

Luigi was born in Campania with wine in his blood. When he and his British wife Jo founded Campania Wines in 2011 from Dormansland, Surrey, their mission was simple: bypass industrial brokers and import wines directly from the independent families who have tended native grapes for generations.

Campania's soils are uniquely volcanic — shaped by Vesuvius and the Campi Flegrei. Because phylloxera cannot survive in loose volcanic pumice, many of the vines we import are 80 to 120-year-old ungrafted survivors, delivering an intensity of flavour and minerality you cannot replicate anywhere else on earth.

Today, every bottle in our UK cellar has been tasted, vetted and temperature-controlled by us. Whether it's an aged Taurasi for a special cellar or crisp Falanghina for dinner with friends, each bottle brings an authentic story of Italian soil and dedication.

"We only sell wines that we drink at our own Sunday family table. If it won't hold up to a four-hour lunch, it doesn't make the cellar."
— Luigi & Jo Di Caprio
What we stand for

Four principles, fifteen years.

Direct family sourcing

We buy from the families, not the brokers. Every estate is one Luigi has walked, tasted in, and shared a harvest with.

Native grapes only

Aglianico, Fiano, Greco di Tufo, Piedirosso, Falanghina — ancient pre-phylloxera varieties rooted in black volcanic ash.

Tasted & vetted

Every bottle in our UK cellar has been tasted, temperature-controlled and approved by us before it ships.

Careful UK dispatch

Recyclable shockproof bottle packaging, HMRC bonded storage, and free delivery across the UK over £100.

The journey

Fifteen years, told in vintages.

  1. 2011

    A cellar is founded

Luigi, born in Campania, and his British wife Jo open Campania Wines from Dormansland, Surrey — determined to bypass industrial brokers and bring the region's native-grape wines straight to UK doorsteps.

  2. 2014

    First harvest visits

Luigi begins visiting every estate each October, tasting from barrel to bottle. The Sunday-table rule is set: nothing ships that we wouldn't pour at our own family lunch.

  3. 2018

    The Taurasi years

A standing allocation of Mastroberardino 'Radici' Riserva is secured — the benchmark Aglianico that taught a generation of UK drinkers what 'the Barolo of the South' really means.

  4. 2021

    Beyond wine

The pantry opens: bronze-die Gragnano IGP paccheri, Sorrento IGP organic limoncello and cold-pressed Cilento DOP olive oil join the cellar — the same families, the same direct sourcing.

  5. 2026

    Fifteen years on

A licensed, AWRS-registered UK importer with an HMRC bonded cellar — still family-run, still tasting every bottle, still telling the story of Italy's most overlooked great wine region.

The volcanic difference

Soil shaped by Vesuvius. Wines shaped by the families who never left.

There are perhaps a dozen places left in the world where you can drink wine from ungrafted vines on the volcanic soil they were born in. Campania is one of them. Meet the estates who keep that tradition alive.
