A family rooted in Sorrento Peninsula
Sorrento's thick-peeled 'Ovale' lemons, infused the way Nonna taught.
The Massa family have farmed lemon groves on the Sorrento Peninsula since the 1860s, their terraces cascading down to the sea under straw pergolas that shade the 'Ovale di Sorrento' lemons from the midday sun. Villa Massa turned the family limoncello recipe into the peninsula's defining IGP spirit.
Only the thick-peeled, fragrant Ovale lemons are used, hand-harvested and infused solely in pure alcohol — no artificial colourings, no flavourings, no shortcuts. Jo and Luigi have imported their artisan spring batch every year for over a decade.
Villa Massa is one of the independent estates Luigi & Jo Di Caprio visit each harvest, tasting from barrel to bottle before a single case ships to our Surrey bonded cellar.
The soil that shapes the wine
The Sorrento lemon groves grow on volcanic tuff terraces above the Tyrrhenian, sheltered by straw pergole that diffuse the sun. The sea moderates the temperature and the mineral tuff feeds the fruit, giving the Ovale lemons their extraordinary fragrant, thick, oil-rich peel.

The Massa family
Only the peel, only Sorrento lemons, only patience. The colour comes entirely from the fruit — if a limoncello glows unnaturally, it is not ours.
